Hot meals, hot showers, warm clothes, and a place to sit down — free, for anyone who walks through the door. On Sunday we worship together. The rest of the week, we work.

Nothing here costs anything. You don’t need an appointment, an ID, or a story. Walk in.
The Storehouse
A free store, not a handout line. Clothing for every season, housewares to set up a room, tents and sleeping bags for people living outside — and clean interview clothes when you’ve got a shot at a job.

A free hot dinner, Monday through Friday at 4:30 PM, for anyone who’s hungry. Around a hundred neighbors come through our doors on a normal day, and there’s always a seat.

Clean towels, soap, and privacy. For a lot of people this is the difference between getting through an interview and not making it to one.

AA and NA groups meet in this building. No dues, no fees — just people who’ve been there. Call for the current meeting schedule.

Case management, medical resources, and help finding the next door to knock on. Pastor Leon brings in as many outside partners as he can, so you’re not chasing agencies alone.

A biker church that opened its doors to the whole street
The Brick Church started as Biker Church USA — a handful of riders who wanted a place where nobody looked twice at a leather vest. That turned out to be the same thing a lot of people in downtown Bangor were looking for: somewhere you can walk in without explaining yourself. The church was founded by Chris Marley, who led it until his passing in 2022 — and the doors he opened have never closed.
Today the pews fill on Sunday and the building works the rest of the week. Pastor Leon Licata leads the congregation and runs The Storehouse alongside it, because the two aren’t separate jobs. As he puts it, sometimes people just need a little encouragement to get to the next step — so he brings in every resource he can find.
The church itself was finished in 1853, and it has been a landmark on Union Street ever since. It’s a working building now: showers in the back, a free store downstairs, coffee on, doors unlocked. And the work doesn’t stop at the front steps — the church is closely connected with the BARN (Bangor Area Recovery Network) and the Together Place peer recovery center, so the road to recovery runs right through here.

Get involved
We run on volunteers and donated goods
There is no big budget behind this. Everything on the shelves came from somebody in the community, and most of the hands here are volunteer hands. If you want to help, call the church or stop in during office hours.
Give your time
Sorting donations, serving meals, running the front desk, driving a pickup. A few hours a week makes a real difference in what we can keep open.
